Can confirm that Vox + Vuma buffers constantly during the evenings. Seems like a common issue:

I found that streaming on my iphone and airplay to the apple tv device worked well.

I also tested streaming directly from the apple tv device recently and no more problems (for now).

I’m in the same boat. Up until a month or so ago I could happily stream AppleTV+ at 4K quality without issues. Now I get constant buffering and the quality doesn’t go past SD. This happens both on my AppleTV as well as my Xbox Series X.

As others have mentioned all my other streaming services are working perfectly at maximum 4K quality, so this problem is 100% limited to AppleTV+. If I had to guess, this feels suspiciously like SA ISP’s have started throttling the traffic to the local Apple Datacentre? I’m with RSAWeb.

Sadly if this problem persists I see no point in continuing to subscribe to the service. 😢

Hi. I have the same issue. Latest AppleTV 4k plus 150Mbs fibre on a 1000Mbps ethernet connection to an LG G2 using HDMI 2.1 cables. The netflix, showmax and disney apps on the apple tv stream perfectly in dolby vision 4k with dolby atmos. Any purchased movie in my iTunes library buffers and only streams in SD. It must be the apple servers feeding SA. Can Apple please respond to this thread and advise! Thanks.

We usually stream after 8pm once kids are in bed. I just tried this Saturday morning at 8:20am and works fine. It could also be traffic through the Apple servers at that time of night. Wonder if it is usage in other jurisdictions at the same time clogging the servers. USA usage during their daylight hours vs our night time usage. Nevertheless it needs to be resolved for paying customers in SA

I am on Vuma line and it is still pretty bad. But I use Axxess as my ISP. Which ISP do you use?

I also have a fox sports stream app that is very bad too. Expect it uses Apple infrastructure too as performances deteriorated at same time as Apple TV

I’ve completely given up on my Apple TV. It even streams DSTV in 360p now. I switched over to the Native Apps on my LG TV and they all stream perfectly fine. Dstv, Apple TV content, Netflix, Prime, Disney. No quality or streaming issue at all. Going throw Apple TV 4K in the Bin 😡😡😡😡

No improvement to the buffering issues with Apple TV in SA, no issues with other streaming services like Disney, Netflix & Prime. Frustrating.

Add me to the list. Has been working fine since last year, last two months have been terrible. Even reducing quality to SD does not help, using a Samsung TV, fibre ISP with Vox Telecom and Openserve fibre, worse in the evenings

Also still having it. Trying to watch Ted Lasso tonight. Can’t even. Buffers every 5min. This on a 1Gig Fiber line. Does anyone know that the solution is yet. I’ve spoken to Apple support and they told me to factory reset my Apple TV - no improvement. Now I have to call them again for the next step 😡

Exactly the same issue. Shocking that Apple, with such great content, and such great products, fails at something as basic as this.

I've done everything - factory reset, speed test, reboot etc. Netflix et all working beautifully, and I couldn't even get through half an episode of Drops of God. The buffering got worse and worse, and then it kept failing. No choice but to cancel
