Subfolders in email

I deleted my comcast email from my iphone and re-added it. My subfolders are not showing up under my comcast account on my iphone. I'm thinking it might be because there are so many items in my comcast account that it takes awhile to load?

Leave the phone powered on and connected to Wi-Fi for a while.

Also, go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the account, and make sure it set up as an IMAP account, not POP, as POP does not support syncing folders.

I had the same problem. I found that when I added Comcast email back to my Apple Mail account, the incoming port defaulted to 995. It should be 993. I could not get it to default to 993 unless I deleted all outgoing mail, deleted the account, and added it back again. Then the incoming port correctly defaulted to 983 and my folder structure returned. However, the emails in the folders do not populate until I open each and every folder. And in the past week I am unable to send any email from my Comcast account in Apple mail. I get a message that my user ID or password is incorrect, which is clearly not the case. Thus all started when Comcast prompted me to change my password due to a data breach. My husband had a Samsung phone. He had a problem with Comcast email around Dec 26 2023. His corrected itself after a day without any issues. I have been unable to get any resolution from Apple (not their issue - perhaps I need to reset my entire phone to factory defaults! - or Comcast who says the problem is not theirs. I do believe this is a Comcast issue.

After addressing my Comcast account back to my Apple mail at least 10 times, I realize that as long as you don’t have mail in your outgoing Comcast/Apple account, file folders work correctly. And defaults to port 993 l. So you have to delete the outgoing mail, delete your Comcast account, then add it back to Apple mail again and it will be correct. After several weeks and various attempts, it’s clear that Comcast outgoing mail on an outside application needs a separate password. Possibly the outgoing mail Uli’s trying to use a pop server, which would explain the lack of folders. However there’s nowhere in the Apple mail app to set up outgoing mail separately from incoming, set up different password or different server type. I have not been able to send mail from my Comcast account on the Apple mail app for almost 3 weeks, since Comcast required me to create a new password. Because I can both send and receive if I use Comcast online, they refuse to help and blame Apple.

It’s not an option, because you can’t change it. You must delete the account, then add it back to change the account type. Right at the top when you tap on an account it will say what the type of account is. It will be one of these:

POP

IMAP

EXCHANGE

GMAIL

YAHOO

AOL

Except for the last 4 all other accounts will say either POP or IMAP. And those 4 are all IMAP.

Well, good news. I bit the bullet & deleted the account again & added it back as others suggested after weeks of looking online for a solution! Well, it worked!! My emails are now syncing again. I did lose my sents from my phone that I sent while this was happening, but I'm okay with that. I have a feeling I didn't have enough space on my phone, so before I deleted it again, I deleted a bunch of unused apps. & a lot of pics. It took all morning, but everything came back! I think it was stuck on POP email & someone suggested deleting it again & adding it back where it automatically updated it to IMAP on its own. By the way, it had nothing to do with the password. I think mine was a combination of space & bad wifi, so it wasn't picking up the server possibly? Anyway, maybe try deleting it again & don't put the new password in - do the inbox password. Could you possibly need to free up space as well?? Just a thought. Good luck! I feel better already...4 kids with all their stuff in my phone, so it was necessary to have it back correctly! Wishing you good luck & thanks for your input.

I am having the same issue after deleting & adding Comcast personal email back to my iphone se. Mine says 995 port as well & I tried to change it to 993, and it wouldn't accept it. My work emails are completely fine syncing on phone. We have comcast wifi so not sure which problem it is - apple or comcast. I do get my comcast emails on phone but none sync with my computer. I also lost all my comcast sents on my iphone except for the ones I send from phone, but those don't show up on my computer. I suppose I could try deleting and adding back again but I need to be able to send emails from phone, so I'm nervous about going that route again.
