How can I make my AirTag sound louder?
AirTag
I am extremely disappointed in the volume range of the AirTag. It cannot be heard from one room to the next. It's advertised to be handy locating lost luggage in an airport. ?? Practically useless in providing help for a handicapped husband to find his cane at home, much less anywhere else.

Air Tag volume is too small and turns off too quickly. My hearing is good— can even hear the small beeping sound from a refrigerator left open in the next room when the door is shut, but I can’t locate my wallet with an AirTag in it when it is right next to me in a quiet room. I didn’t have this issue with my old Tile device. Airtag has been out for a while. Why hasn’t Apple done anything to improve this? Very disappointed.
If you insert the AirTag into the holder with the white side showing (rather than the shiny Apple logo side), it definitely gets louder.
it makes a big difference! Try it!
Still needs to be louder but a definitely an improvement when the white side is up
What a HUGE waste of money. You can barely hear it if it’s in your wallet or purse. Tired of apple rip offs.
Thank you! Big difference turning around. I can find my cat now!
If your AirTag is in a holder make sure, if possible, that the white plastic surface is exposed, rather than the metal surface with the Apple logo on it.

It does NOT give you a precise location. Only a general idea. It’ll show it’s in the parking lot, but does not lead you right to it. It was worthless when my wallet was lost/stolen for good. You can barely hear it as well. Waste of time and money.
A rare Apple product that is simply inferior. The sound is too low to hear tag; Tile wipes out the AirTag on this score. Also, it's a one-way device. Tile can send signals to and from each tag. AirTag can only send signal from an iOS device. Only good for tracking via map. If you're looking for a Tile replacement, wait until Apple thinks this product through.
OK, so this may be a bit of a stupid question, considering the thread topic, but using white side out, versus logo side out would provide a louder, pinging sound or make it yet easier to identify and locate the tag?
I tried turning the white side out… works much better But it still needs to be older. Especially for senior citizens who are always losing things!
Hello,
Unfortunately, you cannot adjust the volume of how loud an AirTag is when rung.
Sincerely,
Leah Dykema
If you cannot hear it then you can use the precise location method to track it down. See Locate an AirTag or other item in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support.
Find the precise location of an AirTag
If you have a supported iPhone and are near your AirTag, you can find its precise location.

A shame they haven't proved useful for you. I've successfully used FindMy on a number of occasions to both locate items that I've mislaid, and reassure myself that I've left items at home or at work, and not lost them somewhere between the two.

Completely agree. Low sound and only one way tracking. Tile is way superior. The close proximity tracking isn’t worth the trade off.
I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones. I do wish it was louder but it always sends me directly to my items. Even terms new hire may get away I am as I get closer and points the direction to go. I lost one in NC and didn't realize it till I got back to Florida. It gave me the location that it was and I was able to get it back. It was at my friends house.
