Photo transfer from iPhone to iMac
I can't seem to either see or upload photos from my iPhone (OS 16.4.1) on my iMac (OS 13.3.1). Why?

Is the iPhone charged, unlocked, and did you confirm on the iPhone to trust the computer?
You can only download photos fro the iphone, that have been saved to Photos, either from the Camera or or from Apps. You cannot download photos that you have synced to the iPhone from a computer. The syncing is only one-way.
The files are HEIC. I air dropped them on my computer and they were in the Downloads folder. I was able to drop them on Photos and voila, there they were. It's weird that they can't be seen as a pic in photos when I connect my phone.
What is the format of the photos? JPEG? HEIC? RAW? Or other special iPhone formats? Is iCloud Photos enabled on the iPhone?
Can you transfer the photos from the iPhone by Air Drop or Mail? If yes, can the Mac open the transferred photos? Or do you get an error message, when you try to open them with Preview?
Perhaps you are having iCloud Photos enabled on the iPhone. If the photos have not yet been downloaded from iCloud to the iPhone they cannot be shown, when you try to download them. But when you Air Drop them, they are downloaded from iCloud.
I can see the new photos, but they appear as blanks and can select to download, but nothing happens when i do.
iCloud photos is off on my phone and i don't use iCloud for backups
Then I have no idea, sorry.
