For years, you were able to get iTunes and Music to allow you to use half-star ratings. However, as of Ventura, the old tricks seem to not work. Are half-star ratings officially dead?

We believe the previous response was trying to point out that the only ratings in the Apple Music app on a Mac only provides those 5 numbers, and the half-star rating has been removed. We apologize that we weren’t quite clear.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you have some questions about ratings in Music. You can assign a rating—from one to five stars with these steps:
1. In the Music appon your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar.
2. Move the pointer over the song you want to rate, then click or drag in the Rating column to add or remove stars.

Thanks for the response, but my question is not about how to rate a song.
My question is about how to enable half-stars (2 1/2, 3 1/2, etc.). This has been possible in iTunes, and then Music, for years, but it seems you cannot enable the ability in Ventura. The old way to do this was this Terminal command:
defaults write com.apple.music allow-half-stars -bool TRUE
