No one participating in this forum can "fix" anything. Only Apple can change how they do things. You can let them know your thoughts here:

Customize should only appear if you touch AND HOLD the screen for 2 seconds. And if you just tap it again it will go back to normal. If Customize appears other than when you TOUCH AND HOLD then there is either a defective digitizer in the phone, or you are doing something to trigger it, such as carrying the phone in your pocket with the screen against your body. If that is what you are doing you should make 2 changes in your habits:

• Go to Settings/FaceID & Password and turn off Raise to Wake
• Carry the phone with the screen away from your body

And a 3rd recommendation: put the phone in a slip case or a folio “wallet” case to better protect your $1,000+ investment.

This may seem counterintuitive, but the screen is the more easily replaced component if it breaks; replacing the back is a much bigger deal.

Exactly my thought. Who in their right mind needs to access the change wallpaper setting so fast that it needs a short cut? Seriously I can’t think of one person that would need it.

My iOS does not allow customization from the locked screen. Says “unlock to edit” but would still like the option to turn this off. If you have FaceID enabled (like 99% of users), turn your phone away from you slightly to keep the screen locked and attempt the long press…

First you go the setting option and go the walpaper option and tap on the walpaper and and choose from gallery any photo you want and select the photo and you can customise the photo and you can change the walpaper easylily

No, tapping on the screen will not trigger this. You need to press and hold.

I always wonder if sometimes some feature gets implemented because some programmer guy thought it would be "cool" while knowing absolutely nothing about how the rest of the world uses the device.

As every release of iOS goes through extensive alpha and beta testing, this seems highly unlikely.

Appreciate the distinctions on where and how. Someone else on a duplicate thread says you have to "tap"on the actual world "customize" in order to get into the customization mode.

Formal user testing would be different from alpha and beta testing: it would involve having naive users attempt to do certain tasks, while observers record their attempts and make note of common missteps and misunderstandings (such as unintentionally bringing up an option and not knowing what to do.) It would cost money, take time, be tedious, and send things back to the design drawing board rather than fixing bugs and crashes. Instead we have this (and Reddit), which kind of works, is apparently inexpensive and seems to result in incomplete or nonexistent feedback to Apple design teams themselves.

customise appears every time i pick up my phone every time i pull my phone out of my pocket and anytime i am c carrying my phone. Pretty hard to carry it without touching the screen.

Totally agree despite what know it alls say this is a complete bug and needs to be fixed. Driving me insane. And no nothing to do with the watch. I unpaired from watch and left my watch at home, still having the same issues every time I touch, pick up, hold my phone. 30 times a day at least

I’m sure they know everything and are suffering themselves. They can’t admit their mistakes, the developers took money for this function. You'd have to be blind not to notice this is a problem, but I'll send a request to technical support.

If it were working as designed, purchasing a new tone from the iTunes Store should work. But it doesn't, at least not for me. It shows as an option when changing the text tone (and some, though not all, of my previously purchased tones ARE and option) but, once you purchase the tone, tell the iTunes Store to assign it to a contact, nothing happens.

So, while I'm willing to accept that not allowing custom tones is intentional, I'm not so sure about the inability to add tones purchased directly from the store.

When u have more than one option as wallpaper it changes it sometimes and I hate it cause it messes up my background color which messes me up finding certain apps in a hurry and I honestly don’t have time to keep going back to settings to change it back to the original. Why can’t Apple just give us a toggle button to turn the feature off. Simple! I’ve gone to give feedback numerous times already.
