16.4.1 update now phone calls drop.

I have an iPhone 11 that worked perfectly. I did the recent 16.4.1 update and now my phone calls drop constantly. I have rebooted. I have reset network settings. I have no interest in a full reset that will cause me to start from scratch. I've had this phone for years. I love this phone. I can't tolerate that every 2 to 3 minutes phone calls disconnect. This only started after that update. It doesn't matter if it's incoming or outgoing. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas?

As colopaly suggested and few others had also confirmed. I did the below today after much hesitation and doubt. I really don’t want the hassle of setting everything back again but I do desperately want the issue to be resolved at any cost.

General >> Transfer or reset iphone >> Reset >> Reset all settings

I’m in iOS 16.5 version. And it did fix the issue. I made multiple long duration calls and none of the calls dropped. Hoping this will remain the same throughout.

Also really hesitant to due any software updates further.

I had to redo my Face ID, mark all notifications for the apps, my screen time set up was erased, all my Wi-Fi details and paired devices details are lost. Basically whatever changes we had already done in “Settings” app is reset to defaults. I took a lot of time for me to do those again. I’m not sure I’ve missed anything else. May be I’ll set them up whenever I discover.

Thank you every one for your valuable inputs. It was really helpful. Please try this step once and take your chance.

Thanks again.

I agree. We shouldn’t have to reset all settings. I have spoken with Apple many times about this issue and they refuse to take responsibility. They keep saying that it’s a network issue or a connectivity issue. And I keep asking how it could possibly be my carrier when users all over the world with different networks all have the same issue ever since the Apple software update?! (FYI, I’ve been in touch with and they’ve reset everything several times to no avail. And I’ve changed my SIM and tried so many things that others suggested.) Now they’re telling me to find a service provider to look at the device. I told them that if all the problems happened after an update, it’s clearly a software issue. That doesn’t seem to move them at all. And in the meantime I have so many dropped calls, including so many work calls, which affects my work. So frustrating.

I have iPhone SE2020 with same problem since May. It started dropping calls 1-2 x per week and within a month dropped every call after 1-2min. I went through the ENTIRE Verizon Escalation Team - including the Tech that had to call me back 25 TIMES in 45MIN to finish our call. They did a diagnostic and told me it was the phone and to go to Apple. I went to Apple and they pulled up the same diagnostic and said there was no way it was the phone as the only thing that was degraded was the battery. They said maybe it was the SIM that was bad. I work from my phone and don’t have time for games. So I bought a new phone (SE2022) and went and replaced the SIM. Left the old phone with Genius Bar to have the battery replaced. $65 and a new battery later, and 2 new Providers later - both Physical SIM from Boost and eSIM from Mint - the phone still hangs up after 1 minute. But it will stream music all **** day…. Explain that one Apple.

I have iPhone SE and latest update of iOS 16.6.1 has caused calls to drop! This is very frustrating. Calls were previously dropping, then a new security update was sent and calls were good for about a month or so. Now Sept 17, 2023 the calls are dropping again! Is Apple trying to force the consumer to purchase new iPhones? Drop calls began whent MetroPCS (riding on TMobile) sent the eSim card to my phone approx June 2023. I have made complaints with TMobile and they keep saying it is the phone. I have made written complaint with the FCC. Then the phone worked better after the FCC contacted TMobile executive that I was speaking with. But now with newest iPhone security update it is dropping again!

I have the same issue with dropped calls on my iPhone 11 since the update. Extremely frustrating and I’ve also gone through many steps to correct it including reinstalling a SIM, getting a new SIM, resetting network setting, having the carrier recalibrate, rebooting, airplane mode in and off, etc. Really important calls have dropped.

I don’t know if this is related, but I also noticed that since the latest update it sometimes (not always) takes an extra second for something to register when I touch my screen and my battery seems to drain faster. All this in the past week and a half.

My battery is fine.

I reset my network settings long ago, and it did nothing. The notion of a full back up and restore is just too much work having to set everything up again, and there's no guarantee even that will work. I'm glad the network settings fixed it for you. The only thing that works a little bit is for me to stay on speaker. It seems not to cut off anywhere near as often.
