Is there a way to manually backup only some photo albums in iCloud?

I am almost reaching my storage limit on my iPhone and eager to know my options.

1. I have plenty of storage in my iCloud, but I haven't turned on the sync option for photos. That's because I always had my photos on Google photos earlier and continuing to sync to that. Also, I am hesitant to enable sync on both services together, as I have read about several issues that people face when they try to sync to both iCloud and Google photos.
2. Now, without still enabling the entire photos sync with iCloud, is there a way for me to manually backup only certain albums to iCloud and then get them back on phone later when I need? It would be awesome if that's possible.
