My iPhone is stuck on lock screen and is frozen and won’t read the touch of fingers. I need to know if I can remotely access my phone backup feature through the web or if I can get it passed the lock screen or passcode screen on another device?.

I need to recover my data from my iPhone or backup my phone through another device or the internet. What are my options to get my games and music transferred off of it or have it fixed passed the frozen lock screen that it is stuck on?.

iPhone X, iOS 16

If your iPhone is stuck on the frozen lock screen and you need to recover your data or create a backup, you have a few options to try:

  1. Force restart your iPhone:

A simple force restart can sometimes resolve the frozen lock screen issue. The method to force restart varies depending on your iPhone model:

  • For iPhone 8 and later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus: Press and hold the Volume Down and Sleep/Wake (Side) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.
  • For iPhone 6s and earlier: Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake (Top or Side) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

2. Connect to a computer and use iTunes (for macOS Mojave or earlier, or Windows) or Finder (for macOS Catalina or later):

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Open iTunes or Finder (depending on your computer's OS).
  • Locate your iPhone in the iTunes/Finder window.
  • If your iPhone is recognized, create a backup by clicking "Back Up Now" under the "Backups" section. This will save your data, including games and music, on your computer.
  • Once the backup is complete, you can try restoring your iPhone to factory settings by clicking "Restore iPhone". After the process is done, you can restore the backup you created earlier to get your data back.

3. iCloud Backup:

If you had enabled iCloud backups on your iPhone before it got stuck on the frozen lock screen, you can restore your data, including games and music, from the iCloud backup:

  • On a new or another iOS device, sign in with your Apple ID during the setup process.
  • Choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and select the most recent backup available.
  • Your data will be restored, including your games and music.

If none of these methods work, you may need to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store to get further assistance.

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

Your iPhone is locked. So, get this serviced.

Hold it Right There!

Being Locked Out...

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

No Success?

Contact Apple support:

If you cannot get the above link to work, then contact Apple Support.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through.

Retrieving Items Through iCloud

Was iCloud enabled in this iPhone? If so, enable those items in iCloud on your other devices. All would be accessible from within. As an example, here is how to recover Contacts...

Enable Contacts in iCloud Settings:

A. Enable Contacts On an iOS Device:

Enable Contacts in iCloud:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: your name (top item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: Contacts (so that it is green)

and...

B. Enable Contacts on a Mac:

Is Contacts enabled in Apple ID on your Mac? If not, enable it.

  1. Go to: System Preferences
  2. Click: Apple ID
  3. Enable: Contacts
