This is a known issue due to both a design & manufacturing flaws, but Apple only acknowledged the issue with the MBPro 13" (2016) model (free repair program has expired). If you want the built-in Display to work again, then you will need to have an expensive repair by having the Display Assembly replaced. I do not recommend repairs for multiple reasons, but instead I would suggest putting the money you would use for repairs into a new laptop.

You can pay for the repair.

You can use the laptop as is, or with an external display.

You can sell or recycle the laptop and/or use/purchase another laptop.

You can check your local consumer protection laws.
