Will filtering unknown senders ever work properly?

I get tons of spam messages on iMessage and filtering unknown senders does NOTHING. Just remove the option if it doesn’t do anything. Mine as well use android if this is what to expect with iPhones.

Did you contact your Carrier for SMS spam? I would love to hear their version of the story.

iMessage at least has a reporting system (Only for iMessage and not for SMS)

In the list of messages, touch and hold the spam message, then tap Report Junk. Or, if you've opened the message, scroll to the bottom of the message, tap Report Junk, then tap Delete and Report Junk. The sender's information and the message are sent to Apple, and the message is permanently deleted from your device.

Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Why not add a better filter, e.g. only allow valid phone numbers, filter numbers that start with, contain, or end with a pattern, filter messages sent from email addresses from messages sent from numbers. Filtering "Unknown Sender" is counterproductive these days, because banks and various service providers send verification and notification messages from different service numbers - those are not regular contacts that you could add and whitelist. Yes, there is a "report junk" option, but what exactly does it do (because it seems that it does nothing)?
