Why is my guided access not working? It is turned on

I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT.
So I was getting fussy with this not working. Turns out I was over thinking it. I would try to activate it while still in “settings”. However, it doesn’t work like that. You have to have a standalone app open prior to activation. So try it again but close “settings” (after toggling “guided access” and “accessibility shortcut” on) and open another app. Hope this helps at least one person

Thanks for the advice. My guided access wasn’t working when I triple tapped the home button, even though guided access is enabled on my phone and tablet. Restarting my tablet cleared out the problem and now the guided access is functioning properly again.
Fun fact I had the same problem turns out you need to select under accessibility shortcuts more then just one so guided access for example guided access Color filters then triple click and boom it worked
If Guided Access is not working on your iPhone, try resetting Guided Access on your iPhone. Go to settings >>> Accessibility >>> Turn off Guided Access and then turn it on after a few seconds.
Guided Access can't work on the app or website, which is restricted by daily app limits. So, please check that also. Go to Settings >>> Screen Time >>> App Limits >>> Click All App & Categories >>> Delete Limit.
If nothing works, Force Restart your iPhone.
Had the same problem in my iphone15. Here’s what I did to get it working again.
1. Turned off Guided access from settings
2. Restarted device
3. Turned on Guided access again
it started working as before. Hope this helps.
March 2024 and still bug, need to restart to work
I use it to child lock apps on my phone for my toddler , it didn’t work for about a week I was frustrated . But then I powered My phone off then back on and it started to work again .
This worked …. But only worked after forced power reboot. I recommend for power cycle , then do open app u want to use, go to settings, cycle access off and on.
close setting tab and open tabbed app u wanted to use. Try guided access (power button click)
this worked for me on iOS 17. iPhone 15 pro max
My guided access stopped working, too. I just had to shut my iPhone down and power it back on; a “turn it off and back on again” sorta deal. 👴
Hi Jeremy6942,
If Guided Access is not working as expected, let's isolate and possibly resolve by restarting the iPhone and verifying the latest iOS.
Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If the problem persists, contact support for some additional options.
Cheers.
This has happened to me as well. I don't know if it's breaking boot guided access for some reason. I was trying to figure out why, and then this guide gave me ideas.
I followed its instructions for troubleshooting and tried updating iOS, and now guided access always works reliably on my iPhone. Hope it helps you out just as much

Reset your iPhone or iPad And I think that will fix it if it’s still not working reply to me the right answer how to fix it.
For me it was the iOS 18 update it finally fixed the problem and now I can enable it 😭
Even though I have done everything I could, even following some of the steps given to me the guided access is still not working. Triple click, and everything else hasn’t worked for almost a week now when I found out it hasn’t been working. It’s stressing me out a bit since I want to draw things that I need to sketch.
I have the same problem. First I couldn’t activate guided access on one of my IPhones so I just used the other. Now this one also stopped working. I click the off button 3 times but nothing happens. The guided access is turned on in settings…
