Help needed to index Spotlight using Terminal.

I cut and pasted the following from a previous post into Terminal. But nothing happened. It was like I was not pasting it properly, but even I can paste.


sudo mdutil -E <path/to/reindex>


I have Monteray version 12.6.5 (does it matter which one I have?).


Advice please.

that’s a dummy string to represent an example. You have to actually put the path to the folder you want to re-index. You can’t copy and paste as is.


copy paste just the first part up to the space before, then drag the folder you want to index into the terminal window. That will fill in the path to the folder. Make sure there’s a space between it and -E.
