Why is "Drops of God" English language not working?

I am trying to play "Drops of God" on my Apple TV. I have set the language to English but I am not getting the English language version. I am looking for help. Are others having the same problem? Thank you.

The “English” language track is actually the original audio track with a mix of English, French and Japanese. Activate subtitles if needed. This is explained in the intro. It works as intended. That might be a bit disappointing if you hoped for options for English dubbing throughout.

This is similar to several other multi-lingual productions on Apple TV+.

It may work as intended, but it really isn't "explained" in the intro because the message isn't accurate. The message on the screen says that the audio language can be changed, but I've tried every option and they all remain in the original English/Japanese/French mix. Strangely, though, some parts appear to be dubbed over with a different voice, but still in the same language. I'm not sure what the purpose of that is.

You are 100% correct! I toggled it from French Canadian to Russian and it is completely Russian. Then I toggled to German and it’s completely German. Then I toggled to Spanish and it’s completely in Spanish! Finally I toggled to English and I hear nothing but French! What gives??? Is Apple conveying that anyone who prefers to watch the series in their native language can do so EXCEPT for English? Why bother providing the English option if it does not enable English when another language is spoken… like the Russian, German and Spanish options do? It’s bloody absurd and I don’t think anyone (including Apple) cares, but as good as the series seems to be (honestly it seems like it’s quite an extraordinary series) I’m deciding to not watch it. I’m 16 minutes in as I write this, but I am stopping it right here. I’ll resume watching it if Apple fixes the English option, but I’m not at all holding my breath. I’m so disappointed. ☹️

Let’s not kid ourselves…. It is not working as it should be. No matter how anyone tries to twist it. If they print in the beginning of an episode that you could watch it in your preferred language, then it should be this one language.

However it only replaces only one of the three languages seemingly randomly. For German it’s French, for English it’s English …. yes you heard me.

Clearly someone didn’t think this through.

I agree that the explanation is not entirely accurate.

My problem is on a different level: I like to view series and films with my Ukrainian girlfriend. For her we use Ukrainians subtitles. That leaves me the audiotrack Apple provides.

Being a Dutch native speaker, I have no problems with both English and French, but Japanese is out of my league.

I’d like to suggest that Apple would provide an option for two different subtitles.
