MAC BOOK PRO Touchpad not lighting up

Has anyone had issues with the ~MacBook Pro touch pad whereby it no longer lights up shows the icons following a MAC OS update. This issue had occurred on a prior update and was subsequently resolved but since MAC OS Ventura the problem remains.

Hello sk1972,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Are you referring to the Touch Bar? If so, resetting your SMC may help resolve this issue.

This article can provide some info about what the SMC controls and how to reset it: Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Hope this helps!

Hey there sk1972,

We'd like to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some other possible causes:

  1. If we're correct in understanding the Touch Bar no longer has a backlight, are we correct in understanding it still has some backlight as you can still operate it? If that's right, we recommend checking if the Touch Bar brightness level may need to be adjusted with the steps near the top of this article: Use the Touch Bar on Mac
  2. You mentioned updating the macOS recently, but the latest version is macOS 13.3.1. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update macOS on Mac.
  3. Any issues found in the results after running diagnostics on your Mac? This link shows the steps for doing this: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

Cheers!
