Target Disk Mode Not Working

I have a MacBook Pro from around 2016-2017 Model A1706, which is "vintage", so the Apple Store won't touch it.

The display will not turn on, and I have tried using an external monitor, but all I get is a grey screen.

Additionally, I have tried using Target Disk Mode to try to get my photos, but when I try this, I only see the items shown in the attached screenshot.

I know this model has the storage soldered in and cannot be removed, so is finding somewhere with the "Apple Data Migration Toolkit" (Apple Part 076-00236) AKA the "Apple Lifeboat Cable" my only option, or is there any other way to try to get my photos from this laptop?

I really appreciate any help provided, and thank you dearly to anyone who takes the time to respond to my issue.

Within the Finder click the "Go" menu and enter this path to see the hidden "/Volumes" folder where the "Data" volume should be mounted.

/Volumes

This will open a new Finder window showing you the "/Volumes" folder where all external volumes should be mounted.

If it is not listed there, then you may need to manually mount the "Data" volume. Launch Disk Utility and manually mount the "Data" volume of the external drive.

In the future make sure to always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data.
