No brush strokes with Apple Pencil in Photoshop via sidecar function?

Hi there. I have been trying to use the Apple sidecar function with Photoshop for the first time.

I have mirrored my iMac 24" (2021) screen to my 11" iPad Pro (2018) without issue and I can use my Apple Pencil (2nd gen) to select files, add layers, lasso etc but it won't draw? I can select a brush and I can see the brush tip shape on the canvas as the pencil touches the screen but no strokes appear? Both devices are running the latest IOS.

It's so frustrating as everything else seems to work/respond fine.

Thanks to anyone who may be able to help!

Thanks for the suggestions/advice.

I actually fixed the issue of no brush strokes by updating my printer software (must have been conflicting in some way). I was then able to apply brush strokes, although the pencil tip and curser were misaligned. I found a thread about this issue and corrected the misalignment by going into display settings and turning off the Touch Bar option. My only problem now is that I can only apply brush strokes if I press down really (really) hard on the screen, there doesn't seem to be any pressure sensitivity, with some of my texture brushes barely leaving a mark even with maximum pressure applied to the pencil? If you have any suggestions as to how I might fix that issue, that'd be great - both my iPad and iMac are running up to date IOS. Thanks

Hi there c_a_t_b,

We'd suggest making sure both your iMac and iPad Pro are updated to the latest software versions, which are macOS Ventura 13.3.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1. Learn more about updating both devices using the links below:

Update your iPhone or iPad

Update macOS on Mac

Also, you may want to reach out to Adobe to see if Photoshop supports drawing in their app using Sidecar. It may not be supported by the app for that specific function. Learn how to reach them here: Adobe Photoshop Learn & Support

For more information about how Sidecar works, have a look at this link: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac

Take care.
