My iPhone takes photos only on HEIC format

My phone will NOT stop taking HEIC Photos!! I can not view them on my PC. It is a gosh darn hassle to find a program online to convert every single **** picture back to JPG! Yes I've already did the whole "Most Compatible" thing. It's hundreds of pictures I can not see! It just started doing this with the last update and I am ANGRY about this. I use these pictures for my business, and it takes hours to convert. Does anybody have a suggestion? I'm about to switch back to Android! I've never had this problem before! Iphone XR. Any help I would be so appreciative! Thanks
