Spam messages, can come about from many different ways. There is no simple answer to how you get them. Some of these ways include, from vendors that you make purchases from. Others are generated by spam bots. Typically, these acquire your email address in one fashion or another and add them to spam lists. In turn, these lists can be sold to spammers to send these emails.

How Others Get your eMail:


A Profile is Made and Sold:

Once obtained, some companies pay vendors to gather this info create a profile. Proving this info is likely something you would have agreed to upon open an account somewhere, or providing your eMail address wherever. In the U.S.A. (and wherever else) you can unsubscribe to these emails out of these, through use of the Can Spam act. See here: CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business - FTC
