Apple Pencil connects and charges but won’t write

As in the title my stylus connects and charges perfectly fine however, it will not write at all. I’ve updated my Ipad to 16.4.1 my stylus is on 02.61.00 . I recently replaced the nib as the stylus suffered a fall. The metal transducer slightly bent ( not by much ) out of its upright positioning, so I bent it back into the correct position which has previously happened but it continued to work afterwards.

I don’t exactly have the funds to just buy a new stylus and do not have access to another Ipad. Unfortunately I’m also majorly unlucky to have no nearby apple store for them to help with troubleshooting 💀. I’m really just looking for any tips/ tricks I may have missed in getting it to work. The battery seems to not be suffering any damage as it charges and slowly loses charge at a normal rate. Only thing I can conclude is that this recent fall did it in for the metal transducer. No I cannot just “ replace “ the entire stylus I am poor 💀👍.

This stylus seems like a lost cause but i’d rather go through every available option then have to uber to a apple store for 50$ then pay 90+ for a new stylus. Replacing is the obvious answer but maybe theres a trick to fixing it that someone might know.

I have tried

  • Forgetting and repairing the stylus
  • Taking the nib off then screwing it back on snuggly
  • Updating Ipad
  • Hard resetting Ipad
  • Turning bluetooth off and back on
  • Warming up the stylus
  • Charging the stylus overnight
  • Checking the stylus firmware
  • Checking if dust accumulated inside the nib ( it was clean )

As described, having been dropped - almost certainly directly onto the tip of your Apple Pencil - the transducer element (that sits immediately under the replaceable tip) has suffered damage from the impact. If visibly damaged as described, the Pencil won’t work.

If the metal transducer element is intact and remains aligned with the Pencil body, you can try replacing the tip - ensuring that the replacement is screwed snugly into position; you should see a tiny gap, of about the thickness of a sheet of paper, between the tip and pencil body.

If replacing the pencil tip does not resolve this issue, or the tip is not correctly positioned in relation to the pencil body when fitted, then your Pencil is likely to have suffered irreparable damage.

While the standard AppleCare limited warranty does not cover accidental damage, if you have purchased the optional AppleCare+ cover for iPad at the same time as purchasing your ApplePencil, AppleCare+ coverage extends to providing cover for your Pencil - including accidental damage.
