M2 Air, Belkin Dock, Dual display not working?

It is spelled out in the specs if you read them:

• Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
• VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

I have a M2 Macbook Air. I ordered HDMI-to-Displayport cables with my Belkin Dual Display USB-C dock but it would not connect. I replaced the HDMI-to-Displayport cables with just straight HDMI cables and now it connects okay. Just thought I would mention in case someone else is trying with Displayport cables.
