Is this supposed to happen? I realized I almost never use the Finder window toolbar, so I thought I'd hide it. When I did the sidebar disappeared. I have to have the sidebar, but don't need the toolbar. Are the two supposed to linked together?

Apparently you can hide the Sidebar without hiding the Toolbar, but not the reverse.

FWIW, it has always been like this.
Hiding the toolbar is the way to a have "Spatial" Finder. If you want the Finder to work as it did in classic Mac OS, that is the way to go.
