original iPad screen problem

I've recently found my old original iPad, the one I bought when Steve Jobs announced it back in 2010. I went to the store and got one the next day. The iPad still fires up, but the screen has gotten very dark. I've tried all the obvious things like trying to change screen settings, but no joy. Is there any way of getting the screen to brighten up at all? I realise that the iPad is old and very outdated. But it has lots of fond memories, so I'm reluctant to throw it away. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Daredevil3000,

If your iPad screen is very dark, it's possible the display backlight has failed.

You would need to find a shop that could repair the screen. While Apple and the Apple Store don't support this iPad model anymore, another Apple Authorized Service Provider might help you:

Find Locations

Sometimes with a failed backlight you can also view the screen under a lamp for a short period of time. If you wanted to do this just to backup the data to iTunes that might be a good option for you.
