Apps not working with cellular data

I’ve had this issue for awhile and my apps won’t work with my cellular data when I’m out and about. The apps only work when I’m on wifi, what should I do?

iPhone 8, iOS 16

Hello Vhrndez23,

To turn on cellular data access for applications go to Settings > Cellular, then scroll down to the page to the list of apps. In there, find the applications you want to have access to cellular data, then turn on the toggle switch for them.

Use cellular data on your iPhone

Cheers!

You have to reset your network settings and all will be fine. I have faced same problem for some apps after updating to iOS 17.2.2.

Note that all saved wireless network and personal hotspot shall be wiped during this corrective action. Note these down if required before performing this action.

Steps to follow:-

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Head to General > Reset.
  3. Now, click on Reset Network Settings.
  4. Enter your iPhone’s passcode and tap Reset Network Settings to confirm.

All the best, hope it works for you as well.

Thank you a thousand times - that did the trick!

It is worth noting that the menu has changed slightly in the latest iOS-version, so you first have to choose "Reset" from the menu and only after that you are prompted with the options what to actually reset. So now it is:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings

After the reset the iphone will restart automatically, so don´t panic when your screen turns dark.

Ok I have encountered this issue before and its solution is quite simple actually.

If your apps work fine with Wi-Fi but some apps don't seem to have internet connectivity when using cellular data then try this:

SETTINGS > CELLULAR > Scroll further down and you will see a list of apps, check that the apps that don't have internet connection are not GREY and if they are turn them GREEN and that should allow them to use your data when not connected to Wi-Fi.

Hope that helps anyone with similar issues.

I had the same problem of my web browsers not working while using cellular data, and the solution was also to delete the TrendMicro Virus protection. If you're having this issue and also have TrendMicro, delete it before doing anything else. That solved my issue instantly. Apple customer care couldn't even figure it out (no offense, you all are great).

Had the same issue but the only app that was facing issues was Instagram, also noticed that when I tried to share my hotspot other devices could not gain internet access. The issue for me was my VPN, not entirely sure what the issue is but whenever I turned off the VPN, Instagram started working fine with my cellular data and I could then share internet through my hotspot (make sure VPN is not enabled on the devices trying to connect to the hotspot)
