My son has an Apple Watch SE that he uses to log his outdoor bike rides. Auto-pause is turned on in the settings, but the watch does NOT auto-pause when it should. I have an Apple Watch Series 6, and when we ride together mine pauses when we stop, but his doesn't.
I've searched and searched and can't figure out why it's not pausing when it should. Am I missing something, perhaps in a setting elsewhere?

Figured out what it was...apparently he knows more about the Apple Watch than I do and he was running a custom outdoor cycling workout instead of the "regular" one, which from what I've seen auto-pause doesn't work for custom workouts...at least we know the watch is working as it's supposed to now.

Thanks for the reply.
He's using the standard Outdoor Cycle workout, which is the same thing I'm using. He is running Trailforks on his phone, but no other tracking apps are running on his watch. Do you think it would matter that it's running on his phone? I will have him not run Trailforks today when we go ride just to rule that out and see if it makes a difference and post back with the outcome.
