how can i remove my daughters Apple ID and sign in with my own when we lost her password?

In order to use a device that has a different Apple ID signed into it, you're right, it would need to first be signed out for a different Apple ID to be signed into it.

I am the organizer of my family group. I lost my my device and just recently was able to recover my account. I want to use the device I had loaned my daughter But I cannot sign her out of this device and sign my ID into it.
