Upper Case Letters in Password

When using scribble to enter my iCloud password found it tricky to write a capital letter, I looked through previous versions of this question but didn’t find the correct answer. here it is:

Write the letter you want capitalized.

Tap on the letter, that puts a box around it. Use scroll wheel to change.

Password special case I can’t type my password with special characters. How do I solve it?

Why does Apple require an 18-character password? I tried so many combinations and permutations of letters, including caps, numbers, and symbols, until I finally got an acceptance at an 18-character count. No one else in the universe requires such a high level of password security. What's the deal with Apple?
