How to reset Apple Watch password

I have not used my Apple Watch for several months and forgot the passcode. The watch app in my iPhone reminds me several times that my watch needed to be updated. However, after I turned on my watch, it asked my passcode. I tried every possible one, but nothing worked.

Checked on Google there are some instructions. One of them said "Press and hold the side button until you see the power button in the upper-right corner of the display. Press and hold the Digital Crown until you see Erase all content and settings. " However, there is NO Digital Crown.

Then from the watch app, I found the Reset in the General. Then I choose "Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings".Then it asked me to provide my Apple ID. However, it said my watch was not connected and asked me to check the Airplane mode. Of course, on my watch I cannot do anything. So I have to use my app to find the Airplane and tried all the options to turn it off. Still did not work!

Then another instruction says:

On the iPhone:

  1. Open the Watch app.
  2. Go to the My Watch tab.
  3. Scroll down to Passcode.
  4. Select Change Passcode.

However, after I clicked the Passcode, it asked me to unlock my watch!?! Seems I was in a bad loop!

Please help!

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for providing some information regarding the steps you've already taken. :)

Every Apple Watch has a Digital Crown. I'm not sure which watch you have, so I'll just show an image of an Apple Watch Series 8:

The Digital Crown on any Apple Watch is located on the right side of the watch, as shown in the image. It's the round button that you can rotate at the top. I suggest retrying the steps you found on Google with this new information!

I hope this helps!
