Mail sent to my Icloud shows up in Gmail inbox

Greetings,

I am using mac mail for both my icloud email address as well as my gmail.

I am finding many duplicates and most often when I open my specific gmail inbox I see a new email.

When I click on my name for the address to reveal what email address the email was sent to, it shows as the mail was sent to my icloud email, yet it appears in my gmail inbox.

I keep these separate for a couple of reasons. My icloud is generally communication between family and friends and I use the gmail for mailing list, sales solicitations and that type of general junk mail. It is very frustrating almost as if the gmail is intercepting my icloud emails and putting them in the gmail inbox.

I have searched for some sort of forwarding I may have turned on or some type of sync and I cannot find anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

First check Gmail web Settings -> Accounts and import and verify you are not using 'Check mail from other accounts'. (https://mail.google.com)

Then go to the web iCloud https://icloud.com and go to Mail -> Preferences (gear top left) -> General and verify you are not forwarding your iCloud email to your Gmail.
