You can try since the warranty is on the device itself, not the Apple ID. Apple should be able to check if coverage still applies using Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
However, you may find that there would be requirements requiring the Apple ID such as disabling the Find My service set on the device. Typically an Apple ID is an email address you have used. If you are currently using a mobile device that is logged into your account, go to Settings and tap your name at the top.
