iMac Ventura finder recents issue

When i click on finder and then recents nothing is showing.


Any resolution to resolve this behavior ?

Do you mean the Recents in the Sidebar? I don’t use that because we have no control over what it decides to show, but it seems very unusual for it to not show anything…


You may try to reset the Spotlight index and see if it helps: in Terminal, paste


sudo mdutil -E /


type your password (there will be no feedback as you type) and press enter. Give it some time to reindex and try again.


FWIW, you can have several Smart Folders with criteria that you define, allowing for easily finding what you need - for example you can have all pdf from the last three days, or image files from the last month, or whatever. Much more useful than lumping together thousands of files.

Hi,


Thanks for your input.


It's just weird why it was working in Big Sur not with Ventura. I had everything shown in the sidebar "Recents" for a month. Depending on which media was opened at the time. i.e photos, video & documents.


I'll try your suggestion at a later date. I don't want to interfere with the system at the moment while the engineers are having a look into this.
