Mail: Signature separator

Hi !

The de facto industry standard for separating the signature from the body of the mail is '-- ' (dash dash space). Most email programs either automatically add this before signatures (generally with an empty line above), or allow the user to set this as an optional parameter, thus not having to add this manually to all signatures.

I might have overlooked this in the parameter settings, but I haven't been able to find a solution, and searches across multiple fora, including this one, have not been successful either. Could someone point me to the answer of whether, and if yes, how this can be done ?

If not, is there a specific reason why Apple Mail does not provide this option ? Would it be possible to include it ?

Best wishes,

Moritz

Yes, I have not trouble adding a separator manually, even in simple text mode. It just is a bit tedious to have to add the same separator to all my signatures, and to not forget to add it again when a signature is updated. As it's always the same it would be nice to leave this task to Mail. All other email clients I have used before do this.

Thanks for the pointer. I submitted my request there.
