Macbook air 6,2 running big sur 11.7.4 but no EFI updates available?

I have a software update notice in system prefs but it just spins like its searching. Silent knight does the same. Are there any EFI updates after 2.8 for this MB Air (early 2014)?

I've seen this occur once in a while. Usually it has been to a macOS issue or an Apple server issue. Try rebooting the Mac & try again. Also try while booted into Safe Mode.

Sounds more like an OS issue if an app isn't responding correctly as this app should only be polling your computer whereas Software Update is needing to communicate with Apple's servers. Besides, only that website where you got Silent Knight keeps track of Apple firmware revisions these days since Apple stopped posting the list many years ago.

Hi Jack, thanks for your reply. No errors, just no updates. Silent Night checks the system and lists what's there and what should be if there's an update but the installer just spins endlessly. The same thing happens in software update. It's not a problem as much as not being up to date.

Thanks HWTech, I'll try safe booting and see if I can get it to update. Since my post, I've also been to mr Macintosh dot com as referenced by the electric light company. I've downloaded new installassistant.pkgs but they don't change anything either.

As this is an older Mac, I'd like any security, etc updates apple puts out.
