iCloud backup transfer

i used iCloud backup to transfer data from my old phone to my new iPhone 13. none of my text messages or contacts populated the new phone

Transferring text messages from old iphone to new iphone I will be upgrading my iPhone in the near future (currently have the 8). When I do, I want to transfer all of my old text messages to the new phone. I have iCloud, and backup regularly, but up to and including the present, I have not been backing up my messages. In researching, most of what I've seen said that if I turn backup messages on, it won't be retroactive, meaning it will only backup new messages going forward (and not fulfilling my purpose to keep all old messages once I get the new phone). Bottom line, without an old backup on iCloud that included my messages, is there any way to transfer those old messages to the new phone? And if so, how?

Transfer of data from old to new iphone. I backed up my iPhone SE to icloud , then signed in with my new iphone 12 and hoped that would transfer all my data. I have recovered most things, photos, contacts etc, but no text messages and am also missing the last couple of weeks of WhatsApp messages. Is there anything else I can do to recover these ? Thank you.

iPhone Backups I had an iPhone for my old job. I had a Samsung for my personal phone. After quitting that job, I lost my old phone but backed everything up onto my iCloud. I shortly after switched my personal phone to an iPhone. After signing into my new phone with my Apple ID, it did not transfer any of my encrypted data and only about 1/3 of my contacts. I've tried using multiple Q&As on how to access my iCloud backups to get access to my contacts, but the only option it will show for me to perform is to delete my backup from the work phone. How to I actually access the data within the backup?

Hello brucerei,

Let's see what may have happened. If you go on the old phone and check Settings > Your Name > iCloud, do you see contacts and messages selected? If so, be sure those same options are selected on the new iPhone as well. This way we know things were backed up and can sync to the new iPhone properly.

Some additional steps that you may need to still follow can be found at Finish setting up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, which walks you through some added checks and setup instructions.
