Hey there, DaDeb,

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

We see that you are unable to open certain images when chatting with your contacts. Was this happening in the Messages app? We will assume that it is but if you need to correct that information, just reply back here and the community might be able to weigh in with different details. The first thing that we would recommend doing is restarting your iPhone. Rebooting an iPhone can resolve a lot of issues in and of itself and is worth a try.

Here's how:

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

That info can also be found here: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Once your iPhone has restarted, test the issue again and see if you are able to view those images successfully.

If you still aren't able to see them, go ahead and double check that you are running the latest version of iOS by completing the steps here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Updating can resolve many unexpected issues and is an important troubleshooting step to try.

We hope this does the trick for you!

Cheers.
