How to ask for a subscription refund when Apple ID does not show any record of it?

The app nebula took me $19 out of my bank account and I didn’t do the trial or signed up for a subscription and my Apple ID does not show and record of it but my bank account shows it was taken out. What do I need to do to get a refund?

I went onto the nebula website and was able to contact there customer support. They replied via email and after some negotiations I was able to secure a refund.

They will try to justify these charges and explain why they took them but if you stay adamant that you didn’t authorise this and they have been take in error you should get a refund. They tried to offer me 50% back at first but I refused and eventually got it all.

If your case is the same as others, then you most likely did not make the purchase from the app where Apple can give you a refund. As others have noted, they clicked a link in an email or advertisement on a webpage or service such as Facebook. This directed them to the Nebula website where they are charging you directly where the purchase is not managed by Apple and must be resolved like any other purchase. Start by dealing with he website directly as other user have had access, and if you get no resolution, then you will need to dispute the charge with the bank of the payment method used.

I have the same issue , my apple pay has beem charged by this website 3 times without my permission. 1st time 1 $ , 2nd time 19$ and the 3rd time 39$ .
they are basically scammers and they asked only for 1 $ but once they charge your card they will charged you several more times . Now i blocked my card but it’s too late too . Cuz they already charged me 3 times without my permission. I don’t know how to refund this amount back . I wish apple pay don’t shared the card details to any merchant without authorization.

It is not Apple Pay that is being charged by the website, it is your card. When you used Apple Pay the first time for the $1 charge, you authorized the merchant to use your card and you also inadvertently signed up to a subscription. From that point on Apple Pay is not being used at all and that contract is between the merchant and your bank. Below are the links to cancel your subscription with Nebula and there is also information about their refund policy. You can also dispute the charges with your bank, since they are the ones that approved them.

Apple was no help since it wasn’t listed on my Apple subscriptions AND PayPal did not help either, but that’s where the transaction apparently came from despite me never giving approval. In PayPal there wasn’t a way to contest a fraudulent charge, but you could contest other charge types. Ultimately, I was able to resolve it and get my money back through my bank - since it’s the one linked to my PayPal account.

Ultimately, I believe they’re getting in through PayPal and it’s showing up as an Apple subscription charge in PayPal and on your bank statement. How Nebula is using your PayPal account to initiate this transaction without your knowledge, I have no idea.

Has anyone figured out how to refund this scam and block all charges going forward?

Since the subscription was not made with an in-app purchases using the app, you will need to deal directly with Nebula or your credit card company. If you have no luck with Nebula, then you will need to dispute the charge with your Credit Card. Your Credit Card company will issue you a new card and Nebula will not longer be able to charge that card.

Here's how to request an app or media refund from Apple (From: Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support - see the article for more detail.)

1. Sign in to https://reportaproblem.apple.com

2. Tap or click "I'd like to," then choose "Request a refund."

3. Choose the reason why you want a refund, then choose Next.

4. Choose the app, subscription, or other item, then choose Submit. If you were charged for a subscription that you no longer want, you can also cancel the subscription using the directions in this article --> If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

When I clicked your link Nebula was not in the active nor inactive section of my subscriptions,

Then how do you know you were being charged by Nebula?

If its not there, then there's no way to know what a charge is for.

If the charge appears directly as being form Nebula on your statement, then you subscribed directly with them and not through your Apple ID or the App Store. As such, you would need to cancel the subscription directly with them. Apple and your Apple ID would have nothing to do with that.

because of the fact that I never agreed to a subscription, however they still tried to charge my card.

You had to activate the subscription at some point. Even if you were not aware of it. Contact Nebula directly and find out, since its not in your subscriptions list through Apple.

I checked this myself when i was charged by going to my name in settings and then the subscription section.

But you just said it was not there. How did you check this then?

If I never had my card locked I would have also been charged the $19 as well. This app is a scam and they are trying to charge ppl’s card information unknowingly. This makes me feel like my info was accessed by them somehow without my consent…

Again, if the subscription does not appear in your subscription list, then either you subscribed directly with Nebula or through a different platform. At that point, Apple and your Apple ID would not be involved in any of it.

my bank immediately sent me a text asking if this transaction was me
because this is a scam!!! you do not sign up for a free trial when you

download the app they’re stealing ppl’s information.

When downloading the App from the App Store, you do sign up for and allow a free trial which renews into a paid subscription. This is not a scam, its the way most subscription based apps work in the app store.

You should read the App's description before downloading, you will be subscribed to what you are agreeing to

Blocking the charge directly through your bank, will simply lead to your Apple account being blocked and you being unable to access the App Store or iTunes store and any of there services until you resolve the pending payment. This is the worst suggestion you can have. You should only go through your bank and block the charge when all other options have been exhausted.

Cancel the subscription if it exists on your Apple ID. If it does not, then you did not subscribe through Apple's platform, and you can do whatever you want.

I was charged through my Apple Cash $19.00 for a subscription that I did not authorize nor is not attached to my phone. Yes, I did check my subscriptions from my Apple ID. I also never downloaded the app. I did "Report and Issue" with Apple Cash and indicated that I never authorized the payment. I also did some research on the Nebula website about cancellations and found that when I entered my email address (I checked all of my email addresses), one of them was linked to Nebula and stated that I was on the "hook" for $19.00 every 2 weeks. I recommend anyone with this issue visit the following pages:

Hope this helps.

Nebula keeps taking $19 from my account, even since cancelation in March 2024

That information has been provided for you in this thread. Users who sign up for subscriptions on a website of the app, need to cancel using that same website. Others have been able to resolve this issue with Nebula and if you have tried and unable to resolve the problem, then you will need to dispute the charge with the payment method used.

Does the company have a website? Any site where you have set Apple Pay as a payment method may have tricked you into a subscription that will be billed to that payment method and only can be cancelled from the website. Any subscription purchased outside of an App will not show up in you subscriptions on your device. For example, the Walmart site constantly pops up messages about Walmart+ and it is easy to hit the OK button, not knowing you just signed up for a subscription. If you had used your Apple Card either on the site or in the app, it will bill that payment method.
