How to schedule text messages on iPhone

We can schedule text messages and more on iPhone. I did on iOS 16.4.1

Please follow the following steps

  1. Go to shortcuts app
  2. Select Automation window
  3. Create personal automation
  4. Time of the day
  5. Choose the event type(daily, weekly, monthly)
  6. Click next
  7. Select action send message (do check out their various convenient actions by clicking “+” and section “all actions”)
  8. Click on “message” to input message
  9. Click on “recipients” to select receiver of the message
  10. Click next and disable “Ask before sending
  11. Click done.
  12. This automation will have to be manually deleted in order to end its occurrences.

Hope y’all find it helpful! ✌🏽

This is insanely complicated compared to android. I just switched and I like iPhone but I don’t understand what Apple is thinking here. Anyone know if this feature is in the pipeline? I used to schedule texts on android but this shortcut seems circa 1990.

I NEED to be able to schedule texts to be sent during MOST people’s waking hours. I compose my texts around midnight and NEED to post them to be sent (and not WAKE) the reandom person I am texting.(I would take sending it on a silent only kind of mode, but id rather just have what my Walmart extra phone has. The simple ability to SCHEDULE texts. I don’t like being yelled at if i text and accidentally wake somebody during a doze. Thank you.

so many people told me how superior Apple was too and android. And I took them at their word when in fact the vast majority had no experience with android. Schedule a text message is super useful, Annette with hundreds of people requesting it for years they still haven’t done it.

Well at least I can send balloons and confetti with my text messages.

Wow, I didn't realize this community was so heavily regulated - Sometimes people just need a place to vent and if the manufacturer gives a **** they peruse these boards and get it taste for how passionate their users are and about what topics.

I do find it interesting; Tips can only be given 'by people at high levels'? You are 'technically forbidden' to do so?

I'll calm down now as you request - and stop up voting and down voting as you also request.

Actually, I'll just leave.

Most of my messages are typed at night (I'm an insomniac). A lot of my friends aren't very computer savvy and I have managed to wake several people at 3 in the morning because they don't turn their phones off or use the do not disturb feature. Also, I message quite a few people internationally and with the time zone changes, I run into the same problem.

I figured by 2024 Apple MUST have an easier way to schedule messages - so I Googled it and got the same response as above. Around the 5th line I gave up. I want to delay one message at a time and have them send individually the next morning. The above method is out of the question for lots of individual messages with different content. I am so disappointed.

I wasn't aware that Samsung has had this feature for quite a while. I have been an Apple user since the day the good old Bondi Blue iMac was released (my kids since 3rd grade in school YEARS ago). I cannot understand why Apple hasn't introduced this feature. I have several greeting card Apps and you can schedule your cards for any day of the year (admittedly not the exact time)

Is there any ray of hope on the horizon that Apple will listen to the wants for this feature?

It's no wonder they have to comply with all these new rules in the EU like opening up the appstore and third party apps and default apps because these bozos just don't get it and don't know how to add features people want. Time and time again being left behind by Android look how long it took them to finally settle on the addition of RCS but the implementation is still half *** cause they are petty.

Don't forget

At the begining of your instructions:

Create Automation

At the end of your instructions:

Go back in sometime after sent but before repeat to disable or be embarrassed (AS Apple should be) that message gets sent a second time for no reason.

Compared to Android

Long press on new message

Select Send later

Select Time / Date

Select Send

Done.
