Does face id not work if the true depth camera is drowned in water?

Does face id not work if the true depth camera is drenched in water? Or rain?

iPhone XR, iOS 16

If the iPhone is sufficiently dunked or is damaged, yes, the TrueDepth camera can fail.


And if it’s been dunked, it’s not considered to be repairable.


Your best remaining option is to direct a breeze of dry air over the iPhone, and maybe it’ll start working again.

Downed Apple Watch:

That depends on how long it has been downed. The Apple Watch is not waterproof. So, keep it out of water, the best you can.
