How do I get a refund on a subscription I cancelled months ago, yet continues to charge me?

I canceled BetterMe App shortly after i subscribing. This was early this year, but they continue to take money from my MasterCard every month. How do I get a refund? How do I get them to stop charging me?

Please help!

Hey
everyone

I have
good news BetterMe actually paid me back! It took long and it was nerves
wracking but l got back all 210$.

This is
what I have done:

I
contacted them to thei support e-mail shop@betterme.world and described the
problem - charging afrer I unsubscribed, naturally they ignored me... I went to
bank and canceled card and raised the claim against them as unauthorised and
fraudulent payments. My bank said that it will take around 30 days to solve and
that it´s like 50/50 chance to get the money back ( bcz subscibtion). I told
the bank I tried to contact BetterMe and solve it with them but no reply.
Meanwhile I was waiting for bank to resolute this somehow I was not very
optimistic about their 50/50 prediction.

So I went
to local Facebook BetterMe page (they do not have one in CZ so I went to Polish
side which has loads of followers) and under some of their comercials I wrote
in coments what has happend to me to warn the others and complained about their
bad customer service - all in polite non offensive manner.

Shortly
after I recieved messenger message from BetterMe appologising for bad
experience and asking when the e-mail was sent that they will look into it. And
shortly after this I really recieved reply on the e-mail.

There was
some backwards and forwards bla bla about their money back guarantee, if I was
not satisfied with the app and such - I had to stand my ground and explained
many times that what I am dissatisfied with is their behavior about canceled
subscribtion and charging money not rightfully and that I am not the only one
with the same problém - they have described the many steps you have to do to
actually unsubcribe, and therefore it is likely that many people make misstake
and never unsubscribe in the end... That is preposterous, it is set for us to
fail - that I described as unfair and I have warned them that if they are not
to return my unvoluntering payments I will have to write to all possible sites
very truthful review about BetterMe (and I listed all possible social sites and
other companies and authorities worldwide ). Obviously they were keen to right
their wrongs after this. First they offered free subscribtion for the paid
period which passed to their app - I declined because that would not been
sufficient and I needed the missing money for paying the bills (which I told
them in previos e-mail). So they offerend 50% of the paid amount, they almost
got me there but again I explained that it was deducted from my account wihtout
my conscious and I request back full amount. (If they already were willing to
give 50% I knew they would give it all if I am persistant.) Then they were
quite for few days so I wrote another e-mail that I will proceed with the
rewies and I will report that all to the authorities, there was immidiate
respond, that they will return 100% and another apology. Within few days the
money arrived to my account and it was the end of it all. Meanwhile bank
requested me to resend to them the first
e-mail I sent to BetterMe (without the reply). I did but soon after I
announced to the bank that they started comunicate and that we resolved it and
I got the money back.

I  hope you can get your money back too
but be prepared it cost nerves, time and effort. Do not be afraid to threaten
them with layers and authorities. It´s many of us whom were robbed, if we can
connect and go against them together then they would not stand the chance!

I am dealing with the exact same issue right now. I cancelled my subscription literally the same day I signed up after realizing it’s an unnecessary expense with my wedding coming up later this year. Yesterday I received an email “reminder” that my plan was about to renew and then a charge for $25.99 was listed at the bottom of the email. I immediately went to the BetterMe website to confirm I cancelled it and it said my plan was still active. I emailed their support team within 1 hour of receiving the email for a refund. BetterMe replied 12 hours later with a lengthy email saying they understand the cancellation process requires multiple steps to actually cancel a plan and was only offered to extend my subscription for an extra 3 months for free. No mention about my refund request. I declined the offer and requested a refund and I’m waiting for a response now. This company is unbelievable and such a scam. When I followed their steps to cancel it, I was asked “are you sure” multiple times and they kept offering discounted rate to get me to stay. I’ve never had so much difficulty cancelling a subscription plan in my life.

Use the Report a Problem link for the app in the app store page for the app to notify Apple, and then pursue the charges and the payment dispute with your financial provider.

Honestly, the best you can do is contact your bank or card provider and tell them about fraudulent charges.

They will change your card number and likely refund you the fraudulently deducted charges.

i don’t think you should expect much from their support team. I wrote several scathing emails to Better me on different social platforms but they are highly unresponsive and refuse to accept fault.

Don’t waste your time trying to contact them

Either you have the subscription associated with a different Apple ID, or you had provided payment information directly to the app vendor and they are billing directly. If the latter, you will have to cancel directly with the app vendor, then—if that direct discussion does not have the desired results—contact your financial provider and discuss this with them.

Hi, did you resolved with BetterMe or with Apple? Did you ever get your money back? It happens to me now! They took 210$ (which is 1/3 of my monthly salary!) I would be grateful for your experience.

If this is a charge directly from the vendor and not from Apple, use the Report a Problem link for the app in the app store page for the app to notify Apple of the issues here, and then the vendor, and then pursue the (fraudulent?) charges and the payment dispute with your financial provider.

AFAIK, Apple does not pass payment information to app vendors, which means charges arising from the app vendor (and not from Apple) requires your payment info to have been entered directly into the app vendor’s subscription system, and not into Apple’s subscription system.

The origin of the charge—from an app vendor directly, and not Apple—means it’s between you, the vendor, and your financial provider, and you’ll want to contact the vendor, and then failing that your financial provider and dispute the charge.

I downloaded the BetterMe app on July 27th had supposedly a 7 day free trial, on 7/31 they charged my card $19.99 plus tax for a 3 month subscription, which I immediately cancelled subscription on 7/31 (my free 7 day free trial would of ended on 8/3) when I saw the charge with 5 days of the free trial date. I also see another charge on August 8th for $30.89. I wasn’t even done with the 7 day free trial and I get charged. I have screenshots of everything including emails, text messages. I just want a refund. THIS BETTERME APP is stealing money from everyone!!!!!! Had I known this was going on sooner I would of never tried for the free trail.

Again, use the Report a Problem link for the app in the app store page for the app to notify Apple, and then pursue the charges and the payment dispute with your financial provider.

Apple does not pass payment information along to app vendors, which likely means that any charges arising directly from the app vendor (and not arising from Apple) require the payment info to have been entered directly into the app vendor’s subscription system and not into Apple’s subscription system.

Same thing happened to me today and I emailed them. They told me there’s a cancellation process and that I must have missed a step but it’s officially cancelled now and implied they couldn’t reimburse me. I responded that if this doesn’t get resolved I would report them to the BBB because that is terrible business. They refunded me within like 10 minutes of that email. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I cancelled my subscription through my iphone literally months ago. BetterMe just took the renewal fee out of my account this week. I tried to go into my account, but since I cancelled it does not recognize my email. How do I remedy this?

If the subscription was not obtained via Apple, and if there are no active subscriptions at Apple, then you seemingly provided your payment info directly to the vendor, and you will now want to discuss billing cessation with the vendor. If the vendor is unwilling, or unable to cease the charges, then you will want to contact your financial provider and dispute the charges with the vendor.

Wow, you were extremely lucky because I’ve been fighting with them via email for about seven months now and I cannot get them to acknowledge that they owe me all this back payments since I have canceled my subscription more than once and gone to my credit and still, they keep charging me I’m on a limited income so cannot afford this and I’m also visually handicap which makes it a little bit harder because it takes me much more time to resolve this issue. I sure hope I get lucky someday.

Contact your financial provider and dispute the charges.

Send along your receipts and email and chats with the vendor.
