Apple TV connection issues

Why is the connection from my iPhone to Apple TV so sporadic? It either takes forever to connect or just won't at all. The moment my phone screen goes to sleep, it's disconnected and it starts all over again. Frustrating when you want to skip back 10 seconds but takes 2 minutes to connect. Then occasionally they're supposedly connected but completely unresponsive

Model A1843

That is the model number of the 2017 Mac Magic Keyboard. I suppose you meant A2843 or A1842?

… the connection from my iPhone to Apple TV …

Is this about AirPlay?

What are you trying to stream using AirPlay? Do you notice a difference between content providers? Does screen mirroring work more smoothly for your own content (e.g. recorded video)?

If the service has an app for Apple TV available, directly on the box, then please try using that.

AirPlay uses your home network, via the router. Verify for interference and obstacles. Try restarting the devices and the router and optional other network gear.
