Messenger Facebook Links Wont Open 16.4.1 (iPad only)

I have the same issues with my iPad Air not following through with Facebook links but if I go to my iPhone the link works fine from the same person. Other links from TikTok or internet works fine.

It made no difference because it is a FB issue, not Apple.

I did the update on my iPad to 17 then clear the cache. The iPad still doesn’t go open the Facebook link…it does open facebook but stays there.

You can report the issue to Facebook, however, I’ve reported it more times than I can count with no response.

i have v17 on both iPad and iPhone. Still have the issue.

So, lots of us are experiencing the same issue and Apple won’t/can’t help. Does anyone know how to get the Facebook wizards involved? I have reported the problem to them, but it just disappeared into the ether. Somebody’s gotta have a fix for this.

Same. Super annoying. Never thought I’d be wanting to go back to my phone

ive done every update and still no fix. Similar to other’s experiences I can open links from my iPhone. Just not the iPad. The link opens FB (so something is working) but then FB fails to open the link and instead I’m left on the last thing I previously viewed on FB.

It would be impossible for anyone here to know why Facebook/Meta does not provide support for this product. Have you looked at their support forums?

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple isn't reading here for feedback or suggestions. And, even if they were, Apple can't fix this. This is a FACEBOOK problem.

Everyone, I found a fix! I know it’s only 2023 so this stuff is pretty complicated for developers. However, here’s what I did (can’t believe I figured this out):

1. Close Facebook app on iPad
2. Set iPad on table
3. Walk away

Haven’t experienced the glitch yet!

FB developers are probably quite capable of fixing the issue but it may not be their top priority. Remember, you are not Facebook's customer. You are their source of data for their real customers, the people who buy ads on the site.

I'm pretty sure their post was facetious. In other words, if you stop using FB, there is no longer a problem.

I’m having the same issue on my iPad. My computer is fine, but my iPad, that I use 99% of the time will not send Messanger links to the correct Facebook page. It always goes to my home Facebook page. It seems this issue has been going on for months. Has there been any resolutions? I tried each of the steps with no luck at all.
