If somebody uses my AirPods on their phone does that give them access to my location even after they’ve returned AirPods to me?

The tracking function works through Find My and your Apple ID. Using borrowed AirPods should not give them any privileges, provided you didn't give them your Apple ID login credentials.

(if they did persuade you to disclose your password, you simply need to change the password for your Apple ID to restore full security. This is easy, if you need it please see If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support )
