Super Drive A1379 compatibility with MacBookPro 2021 14" M1 Ventura 13.3.1?

My Super Drive A1379 does not work with my MacBookPro 2021 14" M1 Ventura 13.3.1, using female USB-A / male USB-C adapter.

Laptop is connected to power by MagSafe during attempt.

(DVD verified to be functional with DVD player to TV monitor)

Is there a workaround or solution?

Thank you.

look at the detailed hardware description is the system report.

see if the drive shows up as an attached device.

see if the drive is asking for its manufacturer-stated requirement of 900 milliAmps (current required)

see if the port can supply that much power (current available)

In this example, a keyboard with a hub inside is seen, and is looking for 300 MilliAmps where the bus can supply 500 milliAmps

Well, that's three suggestions in one post, and I don't understand any of them, so you can perhaps now see why I am having trouble.

One suggestion were that your Mac might not be able to supply adequate power for your external SuperDrive given then adapter that you're using. That could be a possibility, but I haven't tried it myself.

Another is that perhaps Apple's specific adapter might work better. They specifically refer to it as compatible with the external SuperDrive.

And System Report gives a view of the system, including USB devices that are connected and recognized by the system. I've had stuff connected and for one reason or another they didn't seem like they were recognized, like an iPad that didn't show as something I could sync or update until I unplugged and reconnected.

If you can't get this to work...

What I Use: Verbatim External USB 3.2 All-in-One Optical Writer (71094). Works like a charm on my M1 Macs wth Verbatim and my Intel Macs. The software is quick and easy to use. It lets you burn CDs, DVDs, and even Blu-Ray disks.
