The Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder

Hi everybody,

I have a brand new Mac mini running OS Ventura, I cant even open my Lightroom Catalog that I keep on an external hard drive to switch between devices. I get this error:

"The Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder '/[name of my external drive/[name of my folder with catalog]' does not allow files to be created within it. Please either fix the folder permissions before continuing or choose a different catalog."

I have all rights enabled and its still not working, not to mention it takes a ridiculous amount of time to make changes and apply privileges to the drive.

Hi there Kgondim,

If you are having issues using a certain catalogs in this app, this article from the app developer may help resolve what's happening: How Lightroom Classic catalogs work

If this continues after looking over that, then reach out to the app developer next. They would be the best equipped to investigate this behavior further. Reach out using this link: Adobe Lightroom Learn & Support

Take care!
