Safari "sticks" and must be force closed.

I have Monterey 12.6.5 on my iMac. Since upgrading to this version, Safari sometimes "sticks" or stops working. I cannot even force quit it, but must turn the computer entirely off and start it again.

Hi Emilysemsel,

If Safari is not responding intermittently, we should check to see if you have any extensions installed, and disable or uninstall the extensions to test and see if the issue is still present:

"Uninstall or turn off extensions

Choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences), then click Extensions.

  • To turn off an extension, deselect its checkbox.
  • To uninstall an extension, select the extension and click the Uninstall button. If you can't determine what an extension does, or you don't expect to use it again, you should uninstall it."

Use Safari extensions on your Mac - Apple Support

Cheers!
