Why won't Safari 12.1.2 launch in my old iMac 10.12.6 ? Please help.

Safari just will not launch. Tries to, but freezes before ever starting. Have to force quit every time.

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

And if Safe Mode doesn’t resolve this, see if upgrading to macOS 10.13 gets things working better.
