Reset airtag issues

I followed the instructions to reset the AirTag. On the fifth time it made a different noise. I Put the battery back together and every time I try to connect with my iPhone 14, fully updated, the AirTag remembers the previous Apple ID owner and I do not have access to their information or can they reset it. now I followed the factory reset and it’s still remembering the previous Apple ID member. How do I erase this without the previous owner doing it manually?

It appears that the only method to remove an Apple item (aka, AirTag) from its associated Apple ID is via an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. That device would need to be logged in with the same Apple ID used for the AirTag.

Unfortunately, Apple did not make this simple for AirTags as they did for their other devices. You can certainly contact Apple Support directly, as I mentioned before, but they may not be able to help you with this either.

I wish I had a better answer for you.

Ok, then this AirTag is associated with her Apple ID. If she just doesn't remember her ID or the associated password for it, she can use the following links to recover them:

Once she gets that taken care of, she can access here Apple ID account to remove this AirTag.

Finally, if none of this helps, you can contact Apple Support directly for further assistance. To do so, simply select the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
