I set no password on minimac but it requires it now

i set my mini mac can be logged in without passwaord and it was always fine: switch the mac on > go to the login page > i press 'return' key > get in to desktop

Today i switched it on, went to the same login page then just pressed 'return', however it refused me to get in.

I tried to type nonsense 3 times but no 'forget password' or whatever options come up.

What I can do????

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

It should be the same password that you use to unlock System Preference panels.

I wish I had more to say but the user guide only mentions changing the password or retrieving a forgotten one . Although , I did find that you may update to Ventura if your MacMini is 2018 to 2023 . I noticed that your version is 12.6 .

I have a MacMini using automatic login as well ~ no issues there , however , I thought I had one … thanks to you , I found out that I don't :

I changed my Apple ID & password , later I noticed that my login password didn't show the new one . It functioned just fine so I hadn't looked into it yet . While looking for your answer , I found this :

Login password = unlock & access information on your Mac .

Apple ID & password = access to Apple services .

So it's correct the way it is … thank you 🤗
