How to open an xlsb excel file in mac os ventura?
- I am using a macbook pro 2020 with macOS ventura.
- I have no problem opening other excel files except for xlsb.
- I have several excel files with this extension and when I open them, a prompt appears saying "This workbook contains content that isn't supported in this version of Excel - ActiveX - open as read only or cancel". If I click cancel, the file will close/quit. If I click "open as read only", the file would stay open but I cannot edit or even click a cell/button in it.
- I tried the "save as" trick. I tried saving the file in the same folder and in a different folder with the same and with a different file name, but the "save us" trick still didn't work. I also tried saving it in different excel format and it didn't work as well.
- I tried opening the exact xlsb files in my husband's laptop with windows OS and they work well. My co-workers also use windows OS laptops and the files work in theirs, too. I don't know anyone else who has the same laptop as mine to compare with and check if it's about what's in my laptop or just because it's a macbook with macOS.
- The xlsb files that I'm trying to work on are electronic forms of school grades. There are buttons in the file and it allows file migrations. I'm not sure how to describe it but that's the best I could. It says that it has a VBA project (I read this when I tried to save the file in a different excel format), if it helps.
- I read the same question here and the suggestion given was to have the updated version of microsoft excel. I downloaded and am using the microsoft excel app from microsoft 365 (for education, provided by our government, I'm a public teacher). This microsoft excel app is up to date and this is also what my co-workers use.
I hope someone could help. Thank you and more power!
