'Noise Cancellation with One Airpod' Setting Keeps Resetting

I frequently use my AirPods with just one ear in and want to have noise cancellation mode on to block out ambient sound for that ear so I can hear my phone call better. Using the 'Noise Cancellation with One Airpod' setting within Accessibility Options works great for this.

However, the problem is that setting will frequently reset between uses of the Airpods, so I am constantly having to go back into Accessibility Options and re-toggle one ear noise cancellation mode to on. Why can't I save this setting such that it defaults to this mode toggled on? Please advise if I am doing incorrectly, or consider as a bug fix in a future update.

I’ve had this issues for years. I can set it to work with 1 AirPod no problem but within 24 hours to defaults again and I have to go to accessibility setting to change it again. Apple doesn’t seem to give a flying F either as this has been a problem for YEARS and they’ve yet to fix it.
